Joplin, Missouri Area

Welcome to EaglePicher in the Joplin, Missouri Area

Joplin, Missouri has been the heart of EaglePicher since the company began mining in 1874. Battery development first began here in 1922. Material development led to the application of germanium into Bell Labs’ first transistor in 1947, and subsequent research on electrochemistries continues to serve the defense, aviation, space and maritime industries to this day.

What We Do

Joplin and its surrounding communities host four EaglePicher manufacturing sites and a separate research and development facility. Joplin focuses on reserve, primary and secondary cells and batteries along with energetic devices. In 2014, we built our Lithium-Ion Center of Excellence, a 100,000-square-foot facility following the award of the U.S. Government Title III program to support the domestic production of lithium ion for military applications (LIMA).
