Silicon anode is viewed as one of the “beyond lithium” technologies due to its potential for significantly higher capacities. However, there are significant technical barriers that are impacting the introduction of this technology such as swelling, charge retention and heat dissipation in multi-cell battery packages. The MPSC (in conjunction with the Army's DEVCOM C5ISR Power Division) is hosting a seminar to identify the root causes of these problems and discuss potential solutions.
