EaglePicher to Attend the Battery Show 2010
EaglePicher President Randy Moore is serving as a panel member for the Utility Grid Applications for Batteries discussion. “Electrochemical batteries make a fast-growing sector of energy storage technologies and are being considered for different utility grid applications. In this panel session, four key areas of utility applications of battery storage are being addressed. Namely, community energy storage (CES), transportable substation batteries, ancillary services and enhancing [the stability of variable] renewable resources.” 1
“I think we are entering the ‘decade of the battery’,” said Randy Moore, president of EaglePicher Technologies. “From the perspective of a mobile society, so much is changing, so quickly, about how we work, play, and live. Portable power is a significant enabler of that change. For a long time governments and high-end users have been using specialized batteries for mission critical and life-or-death sorts of applications. But now, advanced battery technology touches all of us in our tools, our toys, our medical treatment, our cars, and just about every aspect of our daily lives. I think The Battery Show was formed because of this realization and we’re very happy to be a part of it.”
EaglePicher’s has also been nominated for two of The Battery Show Awards; Battery Manufacturer of the Year – Lithium Ion and Battery Manufacturer of the Year – All other Chemistries. The Battery Show Awards are an honor acknowledging manufacturers for industry achievement and service. The awards presentation will take place October 6, 2010, at 1:45pm at the San Jose Convention Center.
