LOUIS LUPO NAMED VP/GENERAL MANAGER OF EAGLEPICHER POWER GROUP

JOPLIN, Missouri, March 27, 2003 – Louis “Lou” Lupo has been named vice president / general manager of the EaglePicher Technologies Power Group. Making the announcement was Craig Kitchen, president of the privately held U.S. company, EaglePicher Technologies, LLC. Noting Lupo’s skills in process management, Kitchen said, “Lou has a solid history of driving accountability for customer satisfaction in the businesses he has managed. He knows that product quality, customer responsiveness and meeting commitments will drive growth in his business.”

The Power Group develops and manufactures batteries, energetic devices, chargers, and electronics for space and defense applications. They have facilities in Joplin, Missouri, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Vancouver, Canada and sales offices in Europe and Asia.

As group president, Lupo will have complete profit and loss responsibility for the 1,000+ employee company. Lupo brings over twenty years of diverse management experience to the position, most recently as COO of Business Protection Systems International, a continuity planning software development company, which he successfully led through the start up phase to hyper growth. Prior to joining Business Protections Systems International, Lupo was vice president, Sales and Marketing for BE Aerospace Global Services, where he successfully led the development and implementation of a corporate-wide customer account management organization. Before BE Aerospace, Lupo spent 18 years with AlliedSignal, leaving as director, Business and General Aviation Aftermarket business where he increased customer satisfaction 35 percent, enabling revenue growth 25 percent ahead of the industry average.

“Having embraced Six Sigma at AlliedSignal, Lou will embed stronger management processes at Power. His background with initiating and instilling new practices for supply chain processes in particular, is vital. Lou will continue to advance EaglePicher’s position as an industry and technology leader,” remarked president Kitchen.

Lupo holds a commercial pilot’s license in addition to a B.S in Aviation Technology and Management from Western Michigan University. He earned a Masters of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird). He, his wife, Vicki, and their children, Louis, Lindsey and Layna, reside  in Joplin, Missouri.
